HERSHEY'S shared with us this handful of interesting numbers on specialty coffee consumption and preferences:
Frozen blended coffee is one of the fastest-growing beverages at LSRs (Source: Technomic Inc., Beverage Consumer Trend Report, 2018), with about half of Gen Z and Millennials absolutely wanting to try a beverage made with HERSHEY’S or REESE’S branded ingredients (Source: Hershey's Proprietary Research, The Center for Generational Kinetics, 2017). The specialty coffee craze is appealing to both men and women with a slightly higher number for women at 58%. Having enjoyed the perfect specialty beverage, 42% of consumers will return to the establishment they consumed it in (Source: Hershey Brand Power Research Study, IPSOS, January 2018). The fact that the average check will be about $10.00 higher when a specialty drink is purchased (Source: Technomic Inc., Coffee vs. Specialty Coffee: On-Premise, Consumer Brand Metrics, U.S. Restaurants Q3 2018) gives operators another reason to take advantage of this trend.
