Copal Tree Lodge Partners With Distillery for Rum Camp
Copal Tree Lodge, Muy’Ono Hospitality’s agritourism destination set in the jungle canopy of southern Belize, is set to unveil its new Rum Camp in Spring 2019. From April 24-28, the debut four-day program provides an itinerary to entice and inspire both spirit enthusiasts and novices alike, captivating participants with the all-encompassing process of rum-making – from harvesting sugar cane to batching and bottling.
Hosted at the newly-launched Copalli Rum Distillery adjacent to Copal Tree Lodge, cocktail fanatics are guided through the spirit-making process from start to finish among the lush farmlands in southern Belize.
From farm to flask, guests will embed themselves in each step of the process while also enjoying additional activities within and beyond the resort. A Rum Camp itinerary will include the following:
- DAY 1: The camp begins with a tasting from the rum experts at Copal Tree Lodge, who will teach participants how to imbibe correctly, the science behind the practice, and what makes Copalli Rum different, followed by a dinner and rum pairing to welcome guests to their first day in Belize.
- DAY 2: Guests make their way to the Copalli Rum Distillery to learn the basics of rum-making and its evolution over time, where they will tour the entire distillery and bottling facility before heading to Copal Tree Farms’ Agricultural Center. Here, they can try their hand in making rum-filled chocolate as part of the resort’s popular bean-to-bar class.
- DAY 3: Participants return to Copal Tree Farms, where a tour of the organic cane fields is held and participants learn how to harvest cane sugar. The afternoon is spent back at the distillery for a series of taste tests, followed by a Rum Cocktail Class and pairing dinner later that evening.
- DAY 4: Visitors can experience the best of Belize throughout the day before ending the four-day program with a celebratory dinner, complete with guests making their own spiced rum on-site from the final product.
Throughout the course, guests will be given time to relax, unwind, and explore all that Belize has to offer. During each day, visitors can discover nearby ancient Maya sites, enjoy exploring the Rio Grande River, hike or bike through the jungle, indulge in an on-site spa treatment, and more.
