Promotions: Celebrating National Tequila Day
On July 24, tequila lovers across the U.S. will celebrate National Tequila Day. The birthplace of Mexico’s national spirit, Punta Mita has been producing the fermented beverage from the agave plant since the 16th century and has become a destination for both travel and cultural festivities in Mexico. W Punta de Mita, situated in Nayarit, Mexico, will celebrate the holiday with an immersive and authentic pop-up experience that showcases the property’s commitment to educating guests about tequila.
Guests will indulge in curated libations at the resort’s pop-up Cantaritos Bar as they sip on signature cocktails such as W Jarritos and Piwiwi cocktails, which are served exclusively in a canarito -- an authentic clay drinking pot. Inspired by the indigenous bird found in Pihuihui-Beach, the Piwiwi is a cocktail similar to the classic Paloma -- both made with tequila, grapefruit juice, and agave and garnished with brush of salt on the rim. W Jarritos are made using the local Jarritos brand soda as the main ingredient and with several flavors ranging from lime, pineapple, orange to mango, W Jarritos come in many exciting and tasty flavors when mixed with tequila.
Guests will learn about the region’s culture and tequila etiquette as they sip on locally-famed cocktails, which will be served all day at the Cantaritos Bar. W Punta de Mita is also encouraging guests to participate in a Jarritos Ping Pong Table tournament. The winning guest will receive a free tequila shot in addition to a personalized cantarito as a keepsake.
