Summer Travel Trends: Kid-Friendly F&B

Family travel is at its peak right now in the U.S.—children are out of school and parents are using their vacation time—so hotels are responding with unique packages highlighted by kid-friendly F&B.

Two places with out-of-the-ordinary offerings for children are the InterContinental Chicago, and the Mark Hotel in NYC. The InterContinental Chicago takes advantage of that city’s local flavor by offering in-room movies with room service-delivered Garrett’s Popcorn, one of Chicago’s decadent delights. The hotel also supplies Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse-branded hats for kids to wear as they explore the city with their parents. It’s a clever way to advertise that venue—which is inside the InterContinental—outside the property.

The Mark Hotel gives kids a stylish teepee tent set up inside the room, along with housemade chocolate milk and cookies; complimentary breakfast in bed for the entire family from the property’s The Mark Restaurant by Jean Georges; plus a movie night for kids while their parents enjoy a romantic dinner at The Mark Restaurant.

Both of these hotels understand that catering to kids helps make an entire family’s vacation more memorable, and enhances the chances of that family developing loyalty and returning again.
