“We do about 100 weddings a year,” says
When it comes to ice machines, some
hotels are very loyal customers. “We have
three Scotsman ice machines,” says David
Noel, manager of the Hampton Inn Milwaukee–
Airport. “The oldest one is about 15
years old. It just keeps going. And Scotsman
has made major design improvements
since then. We’re really pleased with
our newer machines.
“We just purchased a machine for our
newly remodeled vending room on the
first floor,” adds Noel. “We had restrictions
on space, so we ordered the smaller 22-inch hotel dispenser.
It’s been fabulous. It doesn’t run out of ice. And it looks
sharp. It’s a nice stainless steel unit.”
“I haven’t had to clean the new one yet,” comments Matt
Budde, maintenance engineer for the Hampton Inn. “But I’ve
cleaned our 30-inch machine, which we got almost two years
ago. It’s easy. The indicator light tells you when it needs cleaning.
You just pour the cleaner in and let it run while you clean
other parts—and there aren’t many.
“I love the new machine,” Budde says. “I even like the ice
cubes better. It dispenses better. You hold the chute down,
and it keeps going. The continual feed is easier for our kitchen
staff.” –ADK
