“We do about 100 weddings a year,” says
Christopher Bupp, director of banquets for
the historic Drake Hotel in Chicago. “We
needed new chairs and decided on the
chiavari style, then chose Mity-Lite. The
price point, perception, ROI, and investment
all made sense.
“The chiavari is an elegant spindlestyle
chair that’s perfect for gala events.
These chairs are a key differentiator in the
market—very few hotels are offering them,
and they have been a contract negotiation
point for us for events,” Bupp says.
“Some chiavari chairs are acacia wood
or resin with a metal bar that runs down
the center. We heard stories about possible
injury if the chair breaks,” he notes.
“The Mity-Lite chairs are all aluminum and
very strong. We’ve had zero percent failure
using the chairs for over a year. Care and maintenance are easy. Occasionally,
the powder-coated finish just needs a touch-up, and the touch-up kit
was provided.
“We do a lot of turns with quick setups, and probably more wear and
tear than the average,” continues Bupp. “This is such a labor-intensive
business, we want to go with stronger and lighter pieces to protect our
work crews.” –ADK
