Marina del Rey, a 35-year-old, family-owned, upscale catering
and event facility in the Bronx, hosts large-scale banquets for
weddings, anniversaries and bar/bat mitzvahs. The facility,
which features the ambience of a Mediterranean
seaside villa, has chosen Europaeus
buffetware since 1992, the year the
company began offering quality European
wares to American markets.
Back then, the product material of
choice was ceramic. The company has since
expanded its product lines and now offers
serving pieces in porcelain, ceramic earthenware,
terracotta, and melamine for hotels, restaurants, and
caterers globally.
According to Dan Savino, F&B director at Marina del Rey,
he switched to Europaeus’ Oca Bianca Collection of melamine
catering platters for its durability, ease of maintenance, and
variety in size and shape.
“We host thousands of people over a weekend, so we use a
lot of serveware,” he says. “And our buffets look fantastic with
[Europaeus].”
Savino adds that his facility, which recently
underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation,
orders Europaeus products about twice
a year to experiment with new offerings
that come out, such as the Jade
and Peacock items from the new
Colorware Collection that expand
melamine color options beyond Oca
Bianca’s black and white.
The melamine serveware lines include cake stands,
oval and rectangular platters and trays, condiment bowls,
five-section servers, and fluted ramekins, as well as display
stands for the various platters. —MP
