The Comfort Inn & Suites in Watertown,
New York, required a small ice dispenser that
could serve guests’ needs while fitting into
a confined space. Scotsman Ice Systems
came to the rescue, and according to Tony
Mangano, president of Syracuse-based
Syramada Hotel Corp., it was the only brand
that met the hotel’s requirements. Plus,
the New York State Energy and Research
Development Authority offers a rebate based on the energy
savings provided by the Scotsman models.
“I really like the status lights on the front of the ice
machines,” says Mangano. “I immediately know when a unit
needs cleaning or has an issue that needs attention, often
before a guest notices.” Mangano also cites the units’ sleek
look and ease of maintenance as reasons he chose Scotsman.
Regarding guest feedback, “I’ve gotten none at all,”
Mangano says, “which is my goal precisely! I never want to
hear about our ice makers; they should work without fault all
the time and not be noisy, even when dropping an ice harvest.”
Scotsman’s Prodigy line features a self-monitoring system
that provides information on the machine’s performance and
maintenance needs. The Eclipse line offers heat/noise reduction
