As Victor Williams, executive chef at the White Deer Run Golf Club in Vernon Hills, Illinois, points out, there aren’t too many companies that would allow someone to use their equipment for nine months before buying it. Yet that’s exactly what Williams did before purchasing new holding cabinets from Food Warming Equipment (FWE). “We attended a food show last year and tried to test-drive a competitor, but they never returned our calls,” Williams says.
White Deer has been using FWE products, including warming carts and ovens, for the decade that Williams has been there. “There’s equipment we’ve had for more than 10 years that still works really well,” he says. “When we expanded our kitchen, we decided to purchase more equipment from them.”
Williams did consider other brands before making his choice. A big factor is the company’s customer service, which Williams describes as “outstanding.” Additionally, the products offer innovative features. Williams particularly likes the cook-and-hold option on the ovens. “When we have big buffets and special events such as Easter banquets, we can set the temperature for the beef and basically just walk away,” he says. “We love these ovens. There are more features, and I think there is more value there for the money.” -JM
