In-Room Retail Systems » Cool Opportunities
The mini-fridge is out. Minibars are all the rage, offering guests more options than ever before by using design and technology to combine typical F&B items with non-edible goods, such as universal phone chargers, adapters, and cosmetic products, all in one compact place.
A key player in this emerging trend is Minibar Systems. Garrett Ronan, director of F&B at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, chose Minibar Systems’ Smart Cube minibars as part of the hotel’s recent redesign.
“We researched trends, used general industry insight, computer analyses, spend-per-guest formulas, and more to determine where the industry is headed before we went with the Smart Cubes,” says Ronan. “These units are not like traditional minibars, he adds. Besides being fully automated, “they are cooled with a completely new technology, and they have an ambient section for non-refrigerated items.”
Along with providing the technology he sought, Minibar Systems worked with Ronan to make sure that the Smart Cubes were noticeable without making the room look like a mini-mart. “Ours were custom designed with a countertop display area that is visible underneath the credenza. We offer a combination of custom and brand retail, and we are very conscious of the look.”—AV
