Hotel Beer Trends » What’s Brewing This Season
Brewing a variety of options to accommodate the hotel market is one way Anheuser-Busch makes beer a top pick for hotel guests.
Seasonal trends allow for diversity and creativity. “In the fall, we introduced Budweiser American Ale, a rich, amber-colored ale that delivers a satisfying bold taste with a bright hoppy finish,” describes Ed Horn, sales director, hotel channel, national retail sales for Anheuser-Busch, Inc.
For guests seeking a festive brew to salute the winter season, Anheuser-Busch features Shock Top Belgian White, an unfiltered wheat ale, or Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale, which Horn describes as a “smooth ale with tasty hops and aromas of vanilla.”
The movement toward organic foods and beverages has certainly been making its way to hotel menus as well. For beer to pair with hotels’ organic food options, Horn recommends the Stone Mill Pale Ale, the only nationally available organic beer.
Packaging trends have also played a role at Anheuser-Busch. According to Horn, aluminum bottles have been a hit with hotels since they hit the market three years ago. “The 16-ounce bottles allow consumers to enjoy their beer in an attractive package that is appropriate during occasions where glass is prohibited, such as patios and poolside,” Horn explains. But if the occasion calls for finer drinking vessels, Horn adds that Anheuser-Busch designs glassware that is uniquely branded to the beer to allow the consumer to enjoy the product to its fullest.
“Beer remains America’s beverage of choice,” says Horn. “As available beer choices expand, restaurants and bars have a unique opportunity to introduce their consumers to new tastes and styles of beer to pair with their menu items.” –VO
