As VP of sales for Walco, Ron Gallman knows knives, having been in the tableware business for the past 25 years, six of which have been with Walco. “I have always enjoyed selling tableware and decided to join Walco because of the great product line and the quality of the people. It was simply a good opportunity—and it continues to be.”
Although Walco sells a variety of tableware, it is best known for its flatware and boasts one of the largest selections of steak knives in the industry. “We carry everything from basic, inexpensive wood handles to the durable Delrin handles that are lightweight and resistant to heat and chemicals,” says Gallman. “Add a stainless steel blade, and you've got a high-quality knife that is virtually indestructible”
Walco offers a popular customized hotel flatware service for clients purchasing a minimum of four dozen knives. A hotel can have its logo or company name engraved on the blade or handle of their knives and then use them as promotional tools for their customers.
Distributors buy from Walco because they carry a large inventory and are able to fill orders quickly. When asked what dealers like most about Walco, Gallman says, “Our customer service is tops and the sales staff is not only competent, but they really value our business relationships.”—JH
