Calorie-Free Sugar Alternative » Saying Yes to No Sugar
As executive chef at the Orlando World Center Marriott, Jon Espelage is responsible for all food served in the 2,000-guestroom convention resort. With 400,000 square feet of meeting space and 10 restaurants, Chef Espelage has a full plate indeed. He turns to Splenda No Calorie Sweetener to meet the low-carb and sugar-free special requests of the resort’s restaurant patrons and special events clientele. “Our aim is to meet the dietary practices of all our customers while they are on the road,” says the award-winning industry veteran.
Chef Espelage particularly appreciates Splenda’s lack of aftertaste—a key factor when balancing delicate flavors and top-notch ingredients. Then there’s the consistency when baking and cooking with sugar-free ingredients such as Splenda Granulated, which, measuring cup-for-cup like sugar, performs well.
There’s a mouth-watering line-up on the menu at the Orlando World Center, and hotel guests requesting Splenda know that they will also be offered an enticing choice. Chef Espelage’s special-request favorites include cheesecakes, panna cottas, and ice-cream.
Splenda is not just used back-of-house at the Orlando World Center. “The packets are on the tables in all the restaurants, and [throughout] catering,” explains Chef Espelage. “We help our customers in which ever way we can.”—JT
