Culinary Beer Dinners » Wow Factor

Anheuser Busch Culinary Beer Dinners “We want a 'Wow' dinner,” is the message our meeting and event planners constantly hear from business clients, says Brent Wertz, executive chef at Kingsmill Resort and Spa in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Since the Resort is owned by Busch Properties Inc., it is only natural that event planners suggest a culinary beer dinner. “The initial reaction is one of surprise,” says Wertz. “How can a beer dinner really wow anyone?”

“Frequently, I am part of the events team that meets with corporate clients,” he says, “and I describe how the latest brews from Anheuser-Busch are expertly matched with aggressively creative cuisine from the amuse to a dessert finale.”

At a recent event, creative beer and cuisine parings abounded. First, Spring Heat Spiced Wheat Beer was paired with Antipasti of Crab and Lobster Ravioli, Spaghetti Squash Salad, Basil Pesto, and Truffle Oil and Rustic Panzella.

This was followed by Marinated Artichoke Tart and Braised Veal Osso Bucco, paired with Stone Mill Pale Ale from Crooked River Brewing Company.

Next was a beer and seafood pairing consisting of Pan Seared Red Snapper and a cheese plate, paired with Brew Masters Private Reserve from Anheuser-Busch.

For desserts with beer, tiramisu, cookies, and chocolates were paired with Bourbon Winter Cask Ale, also from Anheuser-Busch. Evidently corporate event clients are impressed. The resort now hosts about 10 beer dinners a month.--DS
