READER PICKS » Elvis Has Left...The Mountain Valley

Mountain Valley Spring Hotel Bottled Water In the 2005 New York Times best seller, Elvis by the Presleys, Priscilla and Lisa Marie’s book features a picture of a case of Mountain Valley Spring Water that “the King” purchased, but never finished. This popular brand of bottled spring and sparkling water has also moistened the lips of Demi Moore (a good excuse to watch her; also Tom and Jack again in A Few Good Men) and other celebrities. But according to Jim Karrh, chief marketing officer at Mountain Valley Spring Water, premium quality water goes well beyond quenching celebrity thirsts and is quite possibly the most essential product in the hospitality industry.

Gregg Herning, GM at the Peabody Little Rock Hotel might concur, citing the multiplicitous applications at his highly touted property. “Mountain Valley spring and sparkling water is utilized at all hotel amenities including the Peabody Athletic Club & Gift Shop, Mallard’s Bar, Lobby Bar, and Capriccio’s Italian Grill, a fine-dining steakhouse that is widely considered to be among Little Rock’s best. All of Peabody Little Rock’s dining establishments appeal to diners with discerning tastes, and Mountain Valley spring and sparkling water’s pure, clean, and simple taste only enhances the dining experience for our guests.”

Mountain Valley spring and sparkling water “can also be found in all 396 guestrooms and 20 VIP suites, including the presidential and vice presidential suites. Our food-service staff also utilizes Mountain Valley spring and sparkling water for all in-room food service,” adds Herning.

Karrh offers some tips on presentation and especially notes that F&Bers should always provide chilled bottles of water (not with ice), especially for fine dining. Mountain Valley offers several packaging options, depending on utility and presentation. The most familiar is probably the glass bottles which come in 1 liter (usually for dining), 1/2 liter (generally for hotels, delis, bistros & picnics), and 1/3 liter (bars, meetings, breaks). All glass bottles offer both still and sparkling water.

Plastic bottles are gaining popularity, and Mountain Valley offers its “still spring water” in several sizes (ranging from 8 ounces to 1.5 liter). Plastic recyclable bottles are ideal for fitness facilities, poolside, gift shops, and other no-glass or on-the-go applications.—WD
