REPLACING THAT SWEATY WATER PITCHER that sits virtually untouched on the meeting room table with bottled water translates into increased revenues and profits for hoteliers.

Dan Wasilick, national account manager, Nestle Waters North America, Toms River, New Jersey, says replacing pitchers with bottled water is an easy upsell. Pitchers cost hotels untold labor and utility dollars with no revenue stream.

In addition to profit potential, bottled water satisfies health-conscious guests tastes and adds to the meeting's perception. Other tips include:

Offer bottled water to speakers and panelists as well. Automatically price bottled water into meetings proposals to ensure it's part of the package.

Include bottled water at coffee breaks, especially given the convenience of plastic. Guests will take a few extra bottles for later consumption so there's opportunity for incremental sales, Wasilick says.

For executive meetings or upscale presentations, Wasilick suggests imported waters in glass bottles, serving them in chillers for added effect. --SBH
