Lineage of Linen
Garnier-Thiebaut elevates Hershey Lodge F&B through vibrant colors
and quality.

When a hotel revamps its food and beverage program, one product often overlooked among the new menus, glassware, and furniture, is linen.

At Hershey Lodge in Hershey, Pennsylvania, however, new linen from Garnier-Thiebaut is a key component in their current F&B renaissance. “We have 100,000 square feet of banquet and catering facilities, plus seven restaurants. I’ve added a huge stock of Garnier-Thiebaut linen. I love the color combinations and designs, which are tastefully done, balanced, and elegant,” says Anura Dewapura, executive assistant manager and F&B director, Hershey Lodge. “When you walk into our ballroom, their linen gives it a personal touch for a huge catering event, and we get enormous compliments,” he adds.

Customers like Dewapura can mix and match dozens of color choices to fit their property’s specific F&B aesthetics on Garnier-Thiebaut’s redesigned website (www.gtlinens.com).

“Many times, people ask for white or ivory by default, but when we show them our unbelievable range of colors and designs, they’re usually surprised, and start wondering how that would fit their dining operations,” says Jean-Philippe Krukowicz, VP of sales, Garnier-Thiebaut.

At the Hershey Lodge’s ballroom, the lime green setup (see photo at right and gallery) consists of Garnier-Thiebaut’s Myriade Citron Vert linen and napkins made from 100% damask cotton.

“It’s a wonderful vibrant green color combination, and people really love it,” says Dewapura. Krukowicz says with expanded color choices comes the need for proper washing so the colors don’t run or fade. That’s why the company started its laundry advisory service to help customers keep their Garnier-Thiebaut linen looking new.

“We make sure hotels do it the right way, which is not always the case,” says Krukowicz, adding that the advisory service is especially valuable for one of the hottest trends in linen today—black napkins. “We can prove to them wash after wash the color will stay because of the quality of our fibers and threads.”

It's this continuous innovation, coupled with a history of linen weaving stretching back to 1830 in France, that keeps customers like Dewapura satisfied. “We’re establishing their linen throughout our entire property, including room service,” says Dewapura. “We certainly gain a competitive advantage using a quality product like Garnier-Thiebaut.” —MC
