Trends: Roof Awakenings
The Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel on Wacker Drive in Chicago is getting in on the sky-high action as part of its just-completed $32 million total renovation. Phase II of the renovation adds a new ballroom with views of the Chicago River, an additional 4,000 square feet of meeting space, and introduces a rooftop bar concept, Raised, with inspiring city views. This unveiling comes one year after the completion of Phase I in May 2015, which featured a revamped lobby and guestroom transformation.
Located on the 3rd floor of the hotel, Raised follows in the revenue-raising footsteps of other rooftop bars and restaurants by capitalizing on guests, locals, and event business. It "invites the vibrant energy from the city streets below with its unique design elements of glass, iron, greenery, fire pits, and reclaimed wood to fill the space," per a release from the hotel. "The bar’s additional event space, Urban Blue, provides the perfect location for private events."
